About Census Dates

Your fees are due at the end of the first week of the Teaching Period, and your Fee Statement is available on myUNSW at that time. Census date is the payment period deadline.

At census date, all UNSW students are financially liable for courses they are enrolled in for that Teaching Period. If you withdraw from any course before midnight on the relevant census date you will not be financially liable for that course. If you are approved to withdraw from a course after the census date, you will still be liable for fees due for that course, because the census date has passed.

Each Teaching Period has its own census date, set by the University in accordance with Commonwealth legislation (HESA 2003). Census date deadlines cannot be extended for any teaching period.

Commonwealth Supported students

Upfront or deferred, your payment must be received by census date.

Your contribution payment is due at the end of the first week of the teaching period, and your Fee Statement is available on myUNSW from that time.

You must finalise all enrolment, student contribution payments and HECS-HELP arrangements by the relevant teaching period census date or your enrolment will be cancelled. This includes provision of a valid Tax File Number if required.

Under Government legislation, Commonwealth Supported students who have elected not to provide their Tax File Number and have not made the required Student Contribution/HECS-HELP payment by the date set by the University, must have their enrolment cancelled. Such students will not be permitted to undertake studies in their program in that semester.
