Garvan Public Programs Volunteer

The Garvan Institute of Medical Research is increasing their outreach and educational activities for 2018 and as such are implementing a program of public volunteerism to assist with public tours, seminars, open days etc. As well as providing an opportunity for UNSW Students to learn and develop their knowledge of medical research, communication and public engagement.


To assist in the preparation, running and organising of the Garvan Institutes public events. Including public tours, seminars, open days and forums and audiences would vary from young children, school aged students and older general public.

Garvan Public Programs Volunteer


An initial induction workshop of 3 hours will be provided entailing all basic and needed information around the Garvan, their work, the volunteer role and any OH&S requirements.
All volunteers will then also be provided with ongoing compulsory and optional training and education to benefit both the volunteer program and the volunteer.
Volunteers will also be provided with private sessions with Garvan researchers and educational and enhancement opportunities as part of their Thank You program.
