The Student Development International Discussion Groups are led by a dedicated team of student volunteers called the Discussion Group Team. In an informal, friendly setting, international students can improve their conversational English skills, learn more about Australian culture and make new friends.
There are a variety of topics discussed, including news, popular culture, Australian slang and others from the team and participants' suggestions. The focus is both on learning more about Australia and also gradually improving communication skills, especially public speaking.
Recruitment for New Project Officers for T3 2019 and T1 2020 is now open. This includes an exciting new opportunity to start a small weekly Discussion Group off campus at Urbanest; Darling Square.
Training will be provided at the start of each semester to ensure the team has a sound understanding of their roles and responsibilities, intercultural competence requirements, procedures, policies and WHS considerations.
Semester 2, Weeks 1 - 13, 1 hour per day, 20 hours total commitment.
