Peer Mentor, UNSW Science

The UNSW Science Peer Mentoring Program is available to students in the majority of undergraduate science degree programs. The following schools offer their own programs.

  • Optometry and Vision Science
  • Psychology, and
  • Materials Science and Engineering.

Experienced science students provide support and advice to new students making the transition to university life. The Program operates across the first term and also includes social activities such as an Orientation Week BBQ and a Trivia Night early in the session, providing opportunities for students to meet other students (mentees and mentors).

Responsibilities

Arrange and facilitate meetings with mentees. Provide additional support via email, or via text message or phone calls at the discretion of the mentor.

How to get involved

Eligible science students will receive an email in November each year asking for expressions of interest.

Training

A full day training workshop is provided.

Duration

Term 1, Weeks 1 - 12, 1 - 2 hours per week.

    (For recognition on Australia Higher Education Graduation Statement)
