Bachelor of Engineering (Chemical)/Master of Engineering (Biomedical) - 2018

Current role

Global Management Trainee Program

Carlton & United Breweries

Highlights of the role

I first heard about CUB’s Talent programs at a Careers Expo when I met a Senior HR representative who was extremely enthusiastic and persuasive about why CUB should be the only company on my radar to work for. It was obvious to me that CUB was a company filled with people who not only loved their job but were passionate about what they did and equally competitive and driven as I was. It was at that point in time that I decided that CUB was the only place I wanted to be, and applied for the Internship, which I completed in the summer after my penultimate year and ultimately led to me securing a spot on the SMT program for 2019.

My internship down at Cascade Brewery was the most incredible and enriching experience, and I only touched a small part of the business! I can’t wait to learn more about all facets of the business as a Supply Management Trainee, as well as getting back to what I do best... brewing beer!

Highlights of UNSW

I was heavily involved in the Chemical Engineering Undergraduate Society (CEUS) throughout my university life. I was a year rep for 1st/2nd year but made my impact in 3rd and 4th year as president and industry liaison of the society during a time of major evolution... there wasn’t a day that went by in those two years that I didn’t work on something CEUS related.

The career highlight at university was completing the CUB internship in the Brewing Department down at Cascade Brewery in Tasmania.

Advice for current students

Doing a concurrent full-time double engineering degree and being so involved with my student society, I didn’t really have the time to visit many Careers Expos or do any case competitions.  However, I do highly recommend them to people who have the time and may not be sure what to do with their degree!
