Published: 18 September 2017

Researchers at UNSW Sydney (The University of New South Wales) / School of Optometry and Vision science are seeking volunteer research participants to learn about relationships between behavioral habits of safe contact lens use, hygiene and compliance in contact lens wearers and associated contact lens case contamination with harmful germs.

Would the research project be a good fit for me?

The study might be a good fit for you if:

  • You currently wear contact lenses and are
  • Above 18 years of age

What would happen if I took part in the research project?

If you decide to take part:

  • You will be required to attend 2 study visits (Baseline and 6 weeks follow-up).
  • At each visit, you will be asked to undergo a brief ocular examination with Slit lamp bio microscope and complete a questionnaire relating to your contact lens use. Your used contact lens case will be collected for laboratory examination and will be replaced with a new contact lens case.
  • Each visit takes approximately 30 mins to complete.

Will I be paid to take part in the research project?

You will receive a $20 gift voucher at the conclusion of the study (upon receipt of the completed surveys and used contact lens cases at the two study visits).
