Botany Street Road Closure

Published: 17 November 2017

There will be two full road closures of Botany Street, between High Street and Gate 11.

These road closures are required to install the tower crane on Stage 2 of the Biological Sciences Renewal Project.

When is it happening?

  • Saturday 18 November* from 3am to 11pm
  • Saturday 25 November* from 3am to 11pm

*Should wet weather /high winds impact the installation of the crane on these days, the fall back is to undertake the works on the Sunday of the same weekend.

How this may affect you

  • Access to Gate 11 and the Botany Street parking station will be maintained at all times from Barker Street. Police will be at the intersection of Barker/Botany to let you through.  Vehicles will only be able to arrive from and exit to the south.
  • Pedestrians will be redirected to the footpath on the east side of Botany Street; however, when the mobile crane is lifting, there will be no pedestrian access.
  • The pedestrian access way between Biological Sciences (D26) and Wallace Wurth to the campus will be closed for the above times.
  • Access to the southern end of the Wallace Wurth building for Saturday 25 November between 11am and 4pm will be closed whilst the crane is being lifted overhead.
  • Traffic control will be in place for the duration of the works to safely direct vehicles and pedestrians.
  • Approval for these road closures has been granted by Randwick City Council and Roads and Maritime Services.
  • Light rail works will also be taking place at the intersection of High Street and Botany Street on the weekend of 25 – 26 November. Further information about these works will be provided soon by Transport for NSW, or call 1800 775 465 if you have enquiries about light rail construction.
