Campus security during COVID-19

Campus security during COVID-19

Published: 31 March 2020

While campus is quiet at the moment due to the COVID-19 pandemic, our security team are still here to help.

Everyone has the right to be and feel safe on campus.

Our security officers are still available on campus 24/7. You can identify them by their UNSW uniform, which will say Campus Security

If you feel unsafe

UNSW Security is still on call to accompany you from your location on campus to car parks, bus stops, and taxi ranks. This is a free service. Security officers are available after hours, (including weekends) all year round. Call UNSW Security on 02 9385 6000 to request an escort or visit one of the Help Points located on campus to request assistance.

If someone is making you feel unsafe

If you are near the Gate 2 Security Office, you can stop in for assistance. It is still manned 24/7 and is a safe space, where you will be protected, if you're in distress.

You can also call the Emergency Security number 02 9385 6666. If necessary, Security will direct you to a ‘safe’ area under CCTV coverage nearby and dispatch security officers to your location.

We will attempt to identify the alleged offender and may be able to offer an escort off-campus, if you need it. If you want, we can contact NSW Police on your behalf.

Got the app?

We recommend downloading the StaySafe@UNSW app, which has buttons that link directly to the above numbers, security updates, campus maps and much more to help you.
