Protect your skin in five ways

Published:

In NSW, UV radiation levels are high from August until May and are likely to be at their peak between 10am – 2pm, or 11am – 3pm during daylight savings. Levels are often extreme in summer.

How can I enjoy the outdoors safely?

Here are five easy steps you can take to protect your skin from the sun:

  1. Seek shade - plan your day ahead
  2. Wear protective clothing that covers as much skin as possible, especially your shoulders, arms and legs
  3. Wear a broad-brimmed hat with a brim of at least 7cm to protect your neck, ears and face
  4. Wear sunglasses - the most effective way to protect your eyes
  5. Apply SPF 30+ broad spectrum sunscreen - apply it 20 minutes before you head outdoors and reapply every two hours.
