UNSW Virtual Learning Abroad Grant - Application deadline extended

The Office of the Pro-Vice Chancellor (International) is providing $1,500 Virtual Learning Abroad grants to selected UNSW students wishing to undertake virtual global mobility programs with an international partner/ host.

The purpose of this grant is to encourage and assist UNSW students to participate in virtual learning abroad programs that fall outside the formal student exchange program. These programs include intensive courses, summer/winter courses, practicums /research placements, work integrated learning, unpaid internships and conferences where fees would incur.

All current UNSW students participating in virtual overseas summer programs (commencing December - February) are eligible to apply. 

Note: Students undertaking exchange or in-person short programs are not eligible for these grants.

Dates and Deadlines:

UNSW Application Deadline: 11.59pm, Sunday 29th November 2020

Eligibility

To be eligible, applicants must meet all of the following criteria:

  • Be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or postgraduate full degree program at UNSW. Students taking program leave are not eligible
  • Are completing a virtual learning abroad program at a recognised host institution or partner, with associated feesStudents taking face to face programs or programs with no associated costs are not eligible
  • Have not previously received funding under a UNSW Short-term Mobility Program Scholarship
  • Are not receiving funding under a UNSW Short-term Mobility Program Scholarship or Australian Government Scholarship (e.g, Endeavour Mobility or New Colombo Plan) for the program listed in the scholarship application
  • Are not receiving PRSS Conference Travel Funds
  • Are not participating in a formal semester/year-long exchange either immediately before or after the program
  • Virtual learning abroad programs cannot exceed one year.

Selection

The Grants are administered by the UNSW Study Abroad and Exchange Office. The Outbound Short Programs Committee will be selecting students based on the following criteria:

  • Virtual Learning Abroad Program
  • Academic merit (Credit average or above)
  • Number of previous mobility experiences
  • Student benefit
  • Duration of program
  • Cost of program
