The Akita International University (AIU) Summer Program 2021 will take place online from June 16 to July 27 2021.

The online intensive Japanese language program is 6 weeks long and it is designed for students at beginner Japanese level. The program includes cultural classes such as Tea-Ceremony and Ikebana, as well as a virtual trip to Yokote-city, a famous historical and cultural resource in Akita.

Eligibility requirements:

・ Applicants must be nominated by their home universities and must be eager to learn about Japanese Language in an active, participatory setting.

・ Beginner level of Japanese Language proficiency and prior study experience required (of least one semester).

・ Applicants must be enrolled at their home institution both at the time of application and during their stay at AIU, and have one semester of grade from that institution on their transcript at the time of application.

・ Applicants must have a cumulative GPA (Grade Point Average) of 2.50 or higher on a 4.0 scale.

・ Non-native speakers of English must submit proof of language ability that meets the minimum standards of: IELTS 5.0 or above, TOEFL 500 or above (PBT)/61 or above (iBT), TOEIC 630 or above.

Fees: 197,000 JPY (includes Admission Fee, Program Fee, Tuition Fee, Processing Fee)
