For New Students Over 21 Years Old

Who can join this Peer Support Program?

The MAPS Program is for commencing first year students who are 21 years of age or over.

Program description

A student's first year at university can be exciting but at times challenging. While mature age students will face similar concerns to other new students at UNSW, we recognise that you may have additional issues to overcome - such as your work, home and study balance, and getting into the habit of studying again.

MAPS is designed to introduce you to other mature age students and all that UNSW has to offer. You will meet with your group mentor and attend events, seminars and activities run by UNSW departments and Arc (UNSW's student union) as a group. Your mentor has the shared experience of being a mature age student, who has successfully completed their first year at UNSW, and can pass on their knowledge and experience to you. MAPS is an excellent way to find support during the early weeks of your first year, and hopefully to form friendships and networks.
