What is Smarthinking?

Smarthinking is a new and free online tutoring service available to UNSW students seeking advice on enhancing their writing skills.

How does it work?

Smarthinking is the sole legitimate external provider of online tutoring for writing at UNSW and students with access to Smarthinking will be given 2 hours of Smarthinking time. Students can use this time to connect to a Smarthinking tutor in a real-time session or submit their writing and receive comprehensive feedback on their writing.

Smarthinking is currently being trialled in The Learning Centre and select courses in Term 2, 2019 and, as such, spots are limited.

Benefits

  • Accessible 24/7 - Smarthinking is there for you when you need it, whether it is late at night, on the weekends or during the holidays.
  • Comprehensive & Fast Feedback - Submit your draft to a Smarthinking tutor and receive detailed, personalised feedback within 24 hours.
  • Real-Time Support - Connect and work with a tutor in a live session about your writing.
  • Next Steps - Receive guidance and a summary of the next steps to take to achieve academic success in your writing.

How do I access Smarthinking?

  1. Visit the Smarthinking @ UNSW Moodle page below using the provided Self-Enrolment key and request access to Smarthinking by completing the Access Survey questionnaire.
  2. You will receive an email about your access within 2 business days of your survey submission.

Please note that Smarthinking is currently being trialled and completing the survey does not 100% guarantee access, however the Smarthinking UNSW team will endeavour to accommodate all requests.
