How to update your enrolment

Below you will find a comprehensive step-by-step guide for common enrolment changes such as:

  • swapping classes and/or courses,
  • removing pending courses
  • and dropping enrolled courses via myUNSW.

A step-by-step guide for new students on how to add/enrol in courses is available on the Getting Started website.

For help with your myUNSW class timetable, see how to create and use your class timetable.

You can only add, drop and swap courses during the relevant enrolment dates for each Teaching Period. Add and drop deadlines are different. See the Late Enrolment Changes page for more info.

This will take you to the Term Selection screen. This is the first step in the online enrolment process and displays a summary list of your enrolments by career, program and teaching period.

Step 4

A list of all your previous or eligible enrolment terms will be displayed on the Term Selection screen, with the most recent term displayed at the top of the list.

Select Update Enrolment for the relevant semester.

Note: You may be unable to enrol if you have an outstanding action item (also known as a service indicator) such as an overdue debt to the University. If you have an outstanding action item, it will be displayed in place of your enrolment details. You must resolve the action item in order to access and update your enrolment.

Step 5

Once you have added/enrolled in courses, you will be taken directly to the Course Selection screen.

The Course Selection screen displays your 'Enrolled' and 'Pending' courses for the term. A Pending course is a course that has not yet been submitted for enrolment. You are not enrolled in Pending courses (i.e. your place has not been reserved).

Swap one course for another

Step 1

Access your enrolment and click the Swap button next to the course you wish to swap.

Note: If a Swap button does not appear next to the course, this means it is now past the enrolment deadline (i.e. the deadline to add courses) and it is no longer possible to swap courses.

Step 2

You will be prompted to confirm the swap. To proceed, click Continue. You can click Cancel at any stage if you decide not to proceed with the swap and your original enrolment will remain unchanged.

Step 3

Use the Catalogue Search to find the course you want to swap to and click Search.

Note: You do not need to complete all search fields. The easiest way to find a course is to enter the course code(s) in the Multiple Courses(s) field and leave all other fields as is. If you are searching for a course that is not offered at a Sydney campus, you will also need to change the Campus field to 'All'.
