Compensation and Military Training Days were introduced to spread the impact of public holidays across teaching periods for undergraduate students, given the majority of holidays fall on a Monday. The table below shows each public holiday or military training day that falls within semester 1 and 2. Each event has a corresponding compensation day.
Classes scheduled on the event day will have their class moved to the compensation day noted for that week. Consequently, classes originally scheduled on the compensation day will be lost.
Example: You have classes that fall on the Canberra Day public holiday (i.e. 8 March 2021). You will simply lose that day of teaching as the compensation day falls on 8 March. If you have classes that fall on Reconciliation Day, instead of losing that day of teaching, your timetable for the Monday will be moved to Tuesday 1 June. Classes originally scheduled for Tuesday 1 June will be lost that week.
Military Training Days are non-teaching days. Trainee Officers have military commitments on these days whilst non-military students will have a class free day.
