Women In Technology Empowerment Program

The Empowerment Program aims to encourage and inspire female students, primarily interested in the technology industry. They are able to obtain professional development by further building hard and soft skills in workshops based on personal branding, networking and an introduction to logical thinking through coding. The Empowerment Program also offers the opportunity for each participant to be paired with a Westpac mentor, where regular meetings will provide valuable insight into the industry.

Responsibilities

Completion also requires the completion of WIT’s Hackathon, a 12 hour event exercising skills obtained in workshops.

How to get involved

Application through a Google form open in STUVAC Semester 1 2017 until Week 1 Semester 2.

Training

Each participant will be required to attend regular workshops that focuses on different aspects of their professional development. There will be four workshops, each consisting of 2 hours of training from industry representatives on topics including personal branding, and an introduction to logical thinking and coding.

Semester 2, Weeks 2 to end of November; 3 hours per fortnight; 20 hours total commitment
