Microsoft Copilot with Commercial Data Protection (formerly Microsoft Bing Chat) has been deployed at UNSW and all students now have access to the enterprise edition.
This generative AI capability provides an extra layer of privacy and data protection that is appropriate for general use across the University. When you sign in to Copilot using your zID, all your conversations are confidential, anonymised and not stored or used for training purposes. Since this product doesn’t store data or use it for training, it can be used with confidence with confidential data, unlike other tools without protection.
Our Student Learning team has prepared a resource to provide you with some guidance when using AI in your studies and we encourage you to review this resource prior to use.
Your guide to using Microsoft Copilot with Commercial Data Protection
You may be aware that there is a range of generative AI platforms and tools available. We have provided Microsoft Copilot with Commercial Data Protection as one of the tools you might like to consider. The creative version of this product provides access to some of the features of ChatGPT 4 at no cost.
We encourage you to experiment with Copilot and compare it with other tools you may have experienced, to see if it can be used effectively in your studies. Remember, Copilot is a tool to enhance your learning experience. It is not a replacement for your own hard work and understanding.
Please review the guiding principles for Ethical and Responsible Use of Artificial Intelligence at UNSW and consider them when using Copilot and other AI tools.
