Call for Nura Gili Volunteer Peer Mentors!

Nura Gili is excited to announce an opportunity for you to make a meaningful impact on our university community by becoming a peer mentor for first-year Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students. As a mentor, you will play a crucial role in supporting and guiding new students as they transition into university life. 

Why Become a Mentor? 

  • Support and Empower: Help first-year students navigate the challenges of university, providing them with the guidance and encouragement they need to succeed. 

  • Build Connections: Foster a sense of belonging and community among Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students. 

  • Develop Leadership Skills: Enhance your own leadership and communication skills through this rewarding experience. 

  • Make a Difference: Contribute to the academic and personal growth of your peers, making a lasting impact on their university journey. 

Eligibility Criteria: 

  • Currently enrolled Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander UNSW 

  • Genuine interest in mentoring and supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students. 

  • Commitment to the program for 3 terms in 2025. 

  • Willingness to participate in training and development sessions. 

  • Willing to volunteer your time to the program 

How to Apply: 

To express your interest in becoming a peer mentor, please submit a brief application including: 

  • Your name, contact information, and degree/year. 

  • A short statement (200-300 words) explaining why you are interested in this mentoring role and how you believe you can contribute to the success of first-year Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students.

An information session will be set for the program once EOI’s a lodged.
