UNSW Law Journal: Student Series | Submissions open

Published:

Launched in 2013, the UNSW Law Journal Student Series is run in conjunction with the Faculty of Law & Justice to provide an outlet for publishing substantial pieces of research completed by UNSW law students.

Publication in the Series is a mark of academic achievement and is an opportunity for you to make a contribution to wider legal scholarship.

The Series is published online on the Australasian Legal Scholarship Library hosted by AustLII, which means that UNSWLJ will be able to remove works for students who later wish to explore the possibility of having their work published in a peer reviewed journal.

Note: Publication policies differ for every journal and some will not accept papers that have previously been published online. We encourage you to discuss your options with your supervisor or lecturer before submitting your work to the Series.

Eligibility Criteria

Your research paper or thesis will be considered for submission in the UNSW Law Journal, if your work is:

  • Min. 5,000 words (footnotes excluded)
  • Received a min. grade of 85
  • Has an accompanying Recommendation Form attached.

Note: Inclusion in the Student Series is ultimately contingent upon your lecturer or supervisor's discretionary recommendation.

The deadline for nominating work completed in Term 2 2023 is Friday 29 September 2023.

Submit your work

What is the process after recommendation?

Once the recommendation for publication from your supervisor or lecturer is received, you will be given an opportunity to engage with the feedback you have received on your paper.

If your paper is recommended subject to conditional review, engagement with your lecturer or supervisor’s feedback will be compulsory.

Students will also be required to format their paper for AGLC 4 compliance before the paper is uploaded to AustLII.

If you have any questions regarding the submission process or the Student Series, contact [email protected] with 'UNSWLJ Student Series' in the subject line.
