The brief
Create a representation of your experience and perspective as a UNSW student in a format of your choice.
Creative entries will need to be digitised either through photography or videography.
Reminder: You must submit your own work
We require you to treat the creative production of your entry as the submission of original work, with a brief rationale of your design and evidence of process included with your submission. For further information, review the definitions of plagiarism.
If you use AI software or coding in the creation of your work, please acknowledge the source and type of collaboration involved in the execution and provide source materials.
Eligibility
Essential Criteria:
- Currently completing an undergraduate or postgraduate degree at UNSW
- Expected graduation is post-2024
- Ability to provide at least two examples of work in a similar format to what will be submitted
- Portfolio demonstrates a high level of creative skill and ability to represent a unique perspective with an original design
- Willing to create an artistic expression in a digital format OR that can be digitised.
Desired Criteria:
- Attended a Gateway Program in high school, entered UNSW through the Gateway Admission Pathway Program OR from an educationally disadvantaged or low SES background
- Ability to create something that reflects personal experiences at university with particular emphasis on how educationally disadvantaged backgrounds influence experience.
What happens if my entry is selected?
The 20 selected entries will each receive a $500 cash prize and be displayed on an inclusive teaching and learning website for UNSW teaching staff.
If you create a physical item, you will need to digitise it through photography or videography. You can then choose to keep your physical creation or donate it to UNSW, where it will be displayed on campus.
The aim of the project
This project aims to educate UNSW staff on the unique student experience, with emphasis on the perspectives of Gateway students and those from an educationally disadvantaged background.
