UNSW's new Integrated Acute Services Building
Published:

UNSW has opened its new Integrated Acute Services Building (IASB) at Prince of Wales Hospital, marking a significant milestone in healthcare collaboration. This state-of-the-art facility, a first in New South Wales, seamlessly connects the university and hospital across ten floors of integrated space, fostering deep connections between researchers, educators and clinical care teams.

Located along the eastern side of Randwick’s Prince of Wales Hospital Acute Services Building, the IASB features ten floors of flexible teaching and research spaces, research laboratories, and health engineering facilities. This innovative approach to clinical co-location is designed to enhance health outcomes for the community by aligning research and teaching activities with hospital work.

The IASB is a flexible place for Medicine & Health students to work and study, especially if you’re on clinical placement at Randwick. Timetabled teaching will start in Term 3.

We ask you follow a few etiquettes as we join the hospital community:

  • Quietly enter and leave IASB spaces

  • Be respectful of patients’ privacy

  • Eat and drink near the kitchenette and tidy up when you’re finished

  • Stay out of wards unless you’re on placement

  • Leave each space as you found it: equipment, technology, furniture

  • Follow instructions in case of an emergency

  • If on placement, please wear your student badge.

The clinical education and research spaces are located on levels 4 -7 along the eastern side of the new Acute Services Building and can be accessed via the hospital’s public lifts. It’s open between 8am- 6pm, Monday to Friday. The UNSW IASB will be a great new place to work, study and interact with the hospital community.
