
The APRU SDG Education for Global Citizenship (SDG4GC) is an intercultural, transdisciplinary, and interactive program that fosters global citizenship among students across the Asia-Pacific. Co-designed by several core-partner universities in collaboration with the United Nations (UN), it builds knowledge of global issues and global literacy among students.
APRU SDG4GC 2025 will conduct a hybrid program under the umbrella theme of “Diversity, Equity and Inclusivity: Actions for Sustainability.” The program will explore the theme's many dimensions, including social, cultural, emotional, spiritual, intellectual, mental, physical, and economic.
Program period: June 2-August 29, 2025
Onsite program in Thailand or Malaysia: July 19 to 27, 2025

Funding: A limited number of travel grants worth up to $1500 each, sponsored by the Division of Societal Impact, Equity & Engagement at UNSW, will be available to UNSW students. Applicants who address the criteria and are accepted into the program will be considered to receive a grant.
Grant criteria: As part of your registration through the Learning Abroad Short Programs Application Form (see below), you should include under the "Motivation" section your response addressing the following:
Please write a short statement (max. 300 words) on your motivation for attending this program, addressing principles of the Sustainable Development Goals and Equity Diversity and Inclusion and explain how you demonstrate these at UNSW.
Key Program Features
- Orientation program, interactive lectures, workshops and training.
- Self-paced UN SDG Primer Course.
- Teamwork with students from the APRU member universities across the Asia Pacific.
- Mentorship program facilitated by academics and design thinking experts.
- One-week onsite program either in Malaysia or Thailand, which will be co-hosted by Universiti Malaya and Chulalongkorn University.
- Onsite experiential learning, community visits and workshops.
- Cultural learning opportunities.
- Pitching competition. The winning team will be awarded an opportunity to join an event or a training organized by UN and Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok.
- Certificate of completion.
Eligibility
- Enrolled at an APRU member university during the program period.
- Undergraduate and graduate (MA) students in any discipline.
- Completed at least one year of undergraduate studies.
- Good command of English language.
