
About the program
Human'INSA is a 3-week short program offering students the opportunity to learn about new technologies in the field of humanitarian engineering or artificial intelligence through innovative and interactive teaching.
This short program is also a perfect opportunity for students to learn French Language, to get to know French culture and the beautiful city of Lyon!
The program offers 2 tracks, which each include a French language and cross-cultural communication component
Track 1 - Humanitarian Engineering (This track includes two preparatory (live) sessions in May/June).
Overview of the humanitarian sector and issues at stake, project cycle in humanitarian contexts, application of engineering competencies to the aid’s sector, work in groups on a case study. In collaboration with the NGO Humanity and Inclusion and Bioforce, a humanitarian training provider based in Lyon.

Track 2 - Artificial Intelligence
This program provides students with a foundational understanding of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and its key domains, including Machine Learning, Data Mining, and Natural Language Processing, through both theoretical courses and practical applications. Additionally, students will explore AI’s integration with the Internet of Things and its real-world impact. A visit to the INSA Lyon Experimental Platform on Aerial Robots will further enrich the learning experience by offering insights into AI-driven robotics.

Eligibility
- Science and Engineering students
- Tracks 1 and 2 are entry-level courses, with Track 1 requiring prerequisites in algorithmics and any programming language
- French language classes in Track 2 are divided into groups from beginners to advanced-level students
Enrolment Type and Fees
Enrolment Type: Exchange places may be available
Tuition Fees: Students nominated for an Exchange place will pay regular tuition fees to UNSW only.
Program fees: € 2,200 (including accommodation, most meals on weekdays, program social activities, certain airport or train station transfers)
Credit Transfer
Approval for credit transfer for learning abroad programs is at the discretion of your Faculty.
Completion of an approved Short Course typically will lead to the awarding of 6 or 12 Free Elective Units of Credit, or where applicable, 6 or 12 General Education Units of Credit toward your UNSW program.
