Join us at UNSW's Paddington campus to hear former Minister Rob Stokes give the Paul Reid 2023 UTZON Lecture addressing the issue - Deciding Sydney's Density Destiny.
Urban containment, through the efficient use of land, has been an implicit objective of the NSW planning system since its inception. Natural barriers to outward growth, coupled with a rapidly increasing urban population, make urban densification an inescapable reality. However, the sheer scale of the NSW metropolitan region provides a huge range of choices about how and where to densify.
Looking at history, law, urban morphology, consumer preference, politics, and examples from abroad, this lecture will pose the question as to which density trajectory we might choose.
