How do people living with disabilities experience their work and workplaces, and more specifically, within the legal and justice professions? What practical ways can the workplace make the profession more accessible and inclusive?
Hosted by UNSW Law & Justice, this event is a dynamic discussion led by notable figures with lived experiences of disability in the workplace, unpacking lessons learned, existing challenges and the importance of legal and justice professions working towards promoting inclusivity in the workplace.
There will be a Q&A session at the end of the discussion and a catered networking opportunity to conclude the event. Everyone outside of UNSW Law & Justice is welcome to join.
Panellists:
- Kate Eastman AM SC - leading Sydney barrister with expertise in human rights, discrimination, employment and public law.
- Assoc. Prof. Scott Avery - deaf and Aboriginal Associate Professor in Indigenous Disability and Inclusion at Western Sydney University. He is from the Worimi people.
- Giancarlo de Vera - lead in policy and advocacy at People with Disability Australia and are also the inaugural Secretary of the Disabled Australian Lawyers Association.
