Consensual Dispute Resolution Competition (CDRC): Vienna

The IBA – VIAC CDRC Mediation & Negotiation Competition is the leading global consensual dispute resolution moot competition, attracting top students annually to Vienna. Benefitting greatly from the experience and knowledge of, and guidance by, the world-leading consensual dispute resolution experts, competitors can develop and hone their skills, experience and brilliance in international commercial mediation. The competition takes place from Friday 11 July to Wednesday 16 July 2025. 

Students receive 6 UOCs for participating in this Faculty-supported international competition and are graded. Enrolment is open to students who will be at the elective stage of their degree at the time of the competition (i.e. 78 LAWS or 72 JURD UOCs) so students’ UOCs by the end of Term 1 2025 will be counted towards eligibility. Students may enrol in Term 1 2025 or Term 2 2025.

There are no formal prerequisites

Selection interviews – Mid to late January Applications will be assessed on the basis of: academic results; public speaking experience and/or potential; interest in developing research, writing and advocacy skills; and a passion for the subject-matter of the competition Faculty Travel & Accommodation Allowance is available to all selected students ($1,600 for flights and $100 p/night for accommodation – up to seven nights).
