FIRST Build Up with EMU Robotics

22 May 2024, 2:00pm - 4:00pm
Electrical Engineering Building (G17)
Three robotic car structures placed on a table

Working with the Electrical Engineering faculty and leading industry partners, EMU Robotics presents a hands-on opportunity to welcome you into the world of electro-mechanical design!

Take part in a two-hour intensive workshop on robot design, based on the global FIRST LEGO League competition.

What you can expect:

  • Work together in small teams to design an attachment, develop code to navigate and complete your mission(s), and score the most points in the final mini comp!
  • A challenge to suit your skill level! We will be running a guided walk-through for those that are new to LEGO League, alongside the chance to prototype at your own rate for the more experienced.
  • Problem solving, planning, and communication skills applicable to all degrees.
  • An introduction to the FIRST network of volunteers and sponsor companies, and a pathway into our senior FRC robotics team (where the robots weigh up to 55kg, wow!).

Not able to commit the full two hours?

Our friendly team members would be more than happy to walk you through the design and operation of our senior team’s FRC robot.

Picture a 45-kilogram vehicle that moves like a motorised shopping cart and shoot donuts over 6ft in the air while moving at a jogging pace. (yes, it is awesome).
