UNSW has many support services that can help you with all aspects of your studies and non-academic life.
General support
Not sure where to go?
If you need help but you're not sure where to find it, contact The Nucleus: Student Hub and they will direct you to the right place.
Need help with your courses?
If you have any questions or concerns about your courses, get in touch with your course staff – they will be eager to help you. Find their contact information via the course site in Moodle.
If illness or other circumstances beyond your control are interfering with your work, check to see if you are eligible to apply for special consideration.
Need general (non-academic) help?
Your Student Success Advisor is here to help with any non-academic questions. They can provide support for you with issues related to transitioning to online learning and life circumstances affecting your studies. Make an appointment.
Got tech issues?
IT Services can help you with Wi-Fi, email, printing, passwords, IT outages, file storage, policies, software access and more. MytiBot (IT’s problem-solving chat bot!) is also available to help you 24/7.
Academic & career support
Need help with writing?
The Feedback Hub is the official online writing support service for UNSW, which is aimed at providing detailed and personalised evaluation and feedback of your written work. It is accessible online 24/7 from anywhere and it provides both real-time and on-demand support.
Need help with your academic work?
Academic Skills provides free, online, one-on-one consults to all current UNSW students. They’ll help you build confidence in your academic work by assisting with your writing skills, referencing, critical thinking, and much more. They also have self-study resources on academic skills (from reflective writing to referencing) and workshops to provide practical and engaging instruction on a range of academic skills topics.
Looking to upskill or change careers?
UNSW is committed to helping you succeed beyond the classroom and into the workforce. UNSW Careers gives you access to a job board, career advice, seminars, workshops, and other useful online resources. They also offer career advice consultations for post-graduate students.

Students living with a physical/mental health condition(s)
If you're managing the demands of Uni while living with a health condition, a learning disability, or experiencing personal circumstances that are impacting your studies, our Equitable Learning Services team can assist you.
Students who identify as LGBTIQ+
UNSW recognises that people from the LGBTIQ+ community can experience social exclusion that can impact your health and study. The ally@UNSW network is a group of trained staff and students, helping to ensure that UNSW is a safe, welcoming place for all LGBTIQ+ students and staff.
Mental health & advocacy support
Counselling and mental health support
Psychology and Wellness provides free and confidential counselling, workshops and seminars for skills development, and self-help resources that promote wellbeing and help you adjust to university life. You can also access Mind Smart guides, a series of self-help resources for developing resilience and self-management skills, and Student Minds, a mental health outreach program driven by students.
Support with bullying
Every student has a right to feel safe and to be treated fairly and respectfully. UNSW provides support if you feel like you are being bullied, harassed or discriminated against by a fellow student.
Need legal or advocacy support?
If you have legal issues that you need help with, you can ask Arc Legal & Advocacy for support (if you are an Arc member). They can help you with university advocacy, employment contracts, tenancy issues, and more.
There are also various other Legal Advice Services available to students as well.
Looking for student council or collective support?
UNSW has a Student Representative Council, a Postgraduate Council, and various student Collectives – groups of elected students who make sure that you have a voice in the running of UNSW.
If you have opinions that you'd like to share, get in touch. There are lots of ways to get involved and be a part of the wider UNSW community.
