Chalmers University of Technology, established in 1829 and named after William Chalmers, a director of the Swedish East India Company, was founded with the aim of creating an “industry school for poor children.” Located in Gothenburg on Sweden’s beautiful west coast, Chalmers is a hub for manufacturing, biotech, and the automotive industry. The university hosts nearly 11,000 students and comprises of 13 departments focused on research, innovation, and education in fields such as engineering, science, shipping, and architecture. Renowned for its close collaboration with industry, Chalmers is one of Europe’s most prestigious technology universities.
Chalmers employs modern pedagogical methods like problem-based learning and project-based teamwork.
