Set up Page Toggles

Toggles are page sections that can be expanded and collapsed with a mouse-click. The page you are viewing right now is an example of a page with toggles.

Toggles are useful when there's a lot of information on a page - such as an FAQ page - as they reduce the information that is visible when the page opens, and allow users to choose what to view. This can make the page easier to read and navigate.

When a toggled page section is collapsed on the Current Student website, a blue button with a white plus-sign displays to the right of the page heading. In an expanded toggle section, the button is marked with a white minus sign:

Insert a toggled section in a page

  1. On the Create Page or Edit Page page, scroll down past the main Body text box and Image field, past the FILTERS, SIDEBAR LINKS and FILE ATTACHMENTS sections to the SECTIONS (+/- TOGGLES) bar. Click the bar to expand this section.
  2. Enter a Title for the toggled section - this will display whether the toggle is expanded or collapsed.
  3. Under Intro, enter any information that is to remain visible even when the toggle is collapsed.
  4. Under Body, enter information that will display only when the toggle is expanded.
  5. If you want the toggle to be expanded (i.e. the Body information to be visible) when the page opens, select the Is expanded check box.
  6. If desired, add quicklinks to the QUICKLINKS section.
  7. Save your changes and check that the toggle expands and displays as it should.

If the toggle won't open, some HTML formatting from text that has been copied and pasted from another web page may be the problem. Open the editing page again, click the SECTIONS (+/- TOGGLES) bar, and under Body click the Edit HTML Source icon . In the Edit HTML Source window, delete the div and /div commands that are causing the problem and click Update. Save the page and check that the toggle expands as it should.

Add a second toggle

If you need more than one toggle, click Add another item. A second toggle creation section will display. You can create as many as you need on a single page.

If you've been creating quicklinks, be careful to click the correct Add another item button.

Rearrange toggles

If you want to change the order of the toggled sections of a page, click the crossed-arrows Drag-to-re-order icon , which is located to the left of the toggle's Body text box, and drag the toggle section up or down as required.

Create a non-toggle section between toggles

To create, between two toggled sections of a page, a section that doesn't toggle open and closed, create it as a toggle as usual, but only complete the Title and Intro fields - don't place any text in the Body text box.

This section will display as shown below (the "Non-toggled text" section). Note the absence of the blue expand/collapse button on the right.

Delete a toggle

To delete a toggle, click Remove at the bottom of the toggle you want to delete.
